Biography:
Colorado-born composer Alan Williams graduated from Brigham Young University, receiving a Bachelor of Music in Composition, and graduate work from the University of Southern California, and scored his first motion picture - "Chronos 5.0" in 1993. Since then, Alan has composed scores for some of the most successful IMAX films, including the Academy Award nominated "Amazon", as well as Sony Pictures' "Mark Twain's America", "Island of the Sharks", and "Kilimanjaro: To The Roof Of Africa". Besides IMAX films, Alan has scored features in genres ranging from action films ("Soul Assassin"), to family films like "The Jennie Project", "Angels In The Attic", and "Clubhouse Detectives". He has scored dramas and romantic comedies such as "Cadillac" and "Who Gets The House?" and thrillers such as "Asylum". It is however, his scores and songs for the animated features "Tiny Heroes" and "The Princess and the Pea" that show his greatest range and versatility as a composer. In addition, Alan has written numerous other TV scores, produced and conducted an album with the London City Symphony, conducted film music concerts at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles, and was selected to participate with guest composer/conductor Bill Conti at the University of Southern California Symphony Orchestra Film Music Concert. Alan's composing skills transcend the large and small screen with his original music for the theatre production "Scarlet Nights" and his concert works such as "Icons" for orchestra. He has received awards for the wind symphony "Prism" from Brigham Young University as well as awards for the woodwind quintet "Quinate" from both Memphis State University and Morehead State University. Alan resides in Santa Clarita, California, with his wife Julianne and three sons.
