COCOON: THE RETURN
Rating:

Original Review: This score is basically a rehash of the first, with more swing and less magic. Still, the Main Theme is very much in evidence again, this time under the guise of 'Returning Home', this album's version of 'The Ascension' is also emotionally charged, and Horner employs much more of the soft, delicate guitar music in this version, especially in the cue 'Growing Old', which gives the whole album a slightly more earthy and sylvan feel. His swing stuff still sounds identical to the cues in Cocoon and *batteries not included, but I suppose you pays your money. It still has a great sound to it, and the legendary Billy May's excellent orchestrations make it sound as though it could have been composed by Glenn Miller himself. I only got this simply because I didn't have the first one at the time, despite years of searching, and this is a cassette rather than a CD - but hey, it's Horner and it's great so I don't care.
