David Michael Frank
Born: December 1948, Baltimore, Maryland.
Biography:
American composer and conductor David Michael Frank attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music, studied in Paris, and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He began his career as an arranger and conductor on Broadway in the mid-1970s, and was involved with the production of several hit shows, including "Grease", “Pippin” and "The Me Nobody Knows" before moving to California in an attempt to build a career in film music. During his early years in the industry he scored hundreds of episodes of the popular TV shows "Laverne and Shirley", "The Bad News Bears", “Columbo”, “Different Strokes” and “Fortune Hunter” before securing his first movie assignment, an alternative romantic comedy named "A Different Love", in 1978. Since then, Frank has built up a solid, if largely underappreciated reputation as a composer of high quality television scores, with an occasional cinematic feature to pepper his filmography. Among his better known big screen works are the Chuck Norris vehicles “Code of Silence” (1985) and “Hero and the Terror” (1988), the comedy "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" (1988), the Steven Seagal trio "Above the Law" (1988), "Hard to Kill" (1990) and "Out for Justice" (1991), "Poison Ivy" (1992), "A Life in the Theater" (1993), the Oscar nominated IMAX movie "Cosmic Voyage" (1996), and the comedy "Slap Her, She's French!" (2002). Frank currently resides in Hidden Hills, California, with his wife Bonnie.
