Born: 6 April 1953, Uddingston, Scotland.

Biography:
Scottish composer of high standing, best known for his frequent collaborations with actor/director Kenneth Branagh. Originally, Doyle's original vocation was as an actor. Although initially employed as both an actor and the company’s musical director, music eventually became his prime focus: he wrote for a number of the company’s stage plays, including the television version of their very successful production of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", and eventually scored his first feature movie - Branagh’s "Henry V" - in 1989. Since then, Doyle has gone enjoy a successful career in Hollywood’s upper echelons, having written music Branagh’s films such as "Dead Again" (1991), "Much Ado About Nothing" (1993), "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" (1994) and "Hamlet" (1996), as well as critically acclaimed and poplar movies such as "Carlito's Way" (1993), the Oscar-nominated "Sense and Sensibility" (1995), "Donnie Brasco" (1997), "Quest For Camelot" (1998), "Great Expectations" (1998), "Bridget Jones's Diary" (2001), "Gosford Park" (2001), “Nanny McPhee” (2005), “Eragon” (2006), and most notably the massively successful fourth installment in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2005). Doyle successfully overcame a form of leukaemia in 1998; he lives in London with his wife children, Abigail and Patrick Jr., who has been contributing their own talents to a number of his recent scores.
