THE SHADOW

Original Review: When I saw The Shadow at the cinema, the Main Theme from Jerry Goldsmith's score sent a shiver down my spine every time I heard it. I rushed out and bought the CD straight away, and got a shiver the first time I heard it then. The shivers decreased as I heard for the second time, third time, fourth, fifth, sixth... Then I was bored. Repetitive is hardly the word. The Main Title, also called 'The Poppy Fields' is a good, dramatic piece in its own right, with a great synth element, but really the main theme is the only part of this score worth mentioning. Other than the rest of the filler music, there are couple of songs performed by Taylor Dayne (who I seem to remember was a one-hit wonder in the late eighties) and somebody called Sinoa (?). The main theme is good, but enough already!
